A CASE STUDY
One of our customers asked us to quote for a bespoke window lug that they sourced elsewhere. They sent us a basic drawing of their required fixing along with predicted volumes.Inmans’ engineers evaluated the best method to manufacture the fixing lug by assessing the tooling required based on expected demand. They then calculated the cost of the tooling, subsequent run rates, material costs and specific packing requirements.
Importantly it was agreed with our customer that the tooling costs were to be spread over the first year by adding it to the lug’s unit price. Naturally they were delighted to avoid an initial upfront commitment without immediate return.
Within a 48 hours we had all the answers for our customer and they felt confident in our approach. All due to the many years of experience we have in the industry.
